- Freethinkers' Picnic

Come enjoy Independence Day with fellow atheists, freethinkers, and the like.
Scroll down for more information.

We are you! We're a bunch of free-thinking people who have organized a picnic to celebrate Independence Day. We've reserved a picnic section of Ravenna Park, where we all can meet and mingle and party down.

It's a potluck picnic. Bring your favorite dish. And, while you're at it, bring the family, Aunt Gert, Uncle Eustace, the dog, the fish--maybe not the fish--but it'll be fun ...and secular fun, at that. Just check out the list of exciting features:

  • Creek
  • Tennis Court
  • Tennis Backboard
  • Paths
  • Woods
  • Restrooms
  • Soccer
  • Baseball/Softball
  • Hiking Trails
  • volleyball set-up
  • playgrounds
  • Punch and Pie (perhaps)
  • Fired-up grills
  • Great People!
  • Lots of good food
  • Possible swordfighting?
  • Cats and dogs? living together? mass hysteria!

I'm glad you asked. Here's a link to a website with directions and a nice map.

The address:
5520 Ravenna Ave. NE
Seattle, WA

Friday, July 4th, all day.

*sigh* Just go stand in the back and don't touch anything.

It's not. Except you might just meet some cool people, and you can be pretty sure that you already have something in common.

  • Bring lawn chairs for sittin'
  • Separate vegetarian grills available
  • No alcoholic beverages allowed in the park, sorry!
  • Entire park is handicap accessible.
  • For liability purposes, all activities at your own risk.
  • Pets OK on leash
  • Our reservation ends sometime, but we're welcome to stay until the park closes at dusk.
  • Want to advertise the event in your community or group? Download this nifty flyer! (PDF)

If you have questions, contact Kyle. The park is on bus routes 74, 68, 83, 243, and 372
