Dear friend of Seattle Atheists,

As 2015 is coming to a close, I would like to thank you for your support. Your contributions, volunteering and involvement are the foundation that makes Seattle Atheists a strong, active organization.

2015 has been another great year for Seattle Atheists, and we are planning to start the next year with a bus-ad campaign that will highlight our unique positive message about our community, and our “WE BELIEVE IN YOU” motto, which is now featured in our logo:

2015 Summary
2015 was a year of changes for Seattle Atheists. We have started executing our strategic plan, which included updating and modernizing our organization’s bylaws, increasing the size of the board, and revamping our website, logo and messaging. Like other modern nonprofits, Seattle Atheists has changed from a voting-member organization to a board-run organization. Our community continues to grow – we now have close to 2,400 members in our Meetup group, over 820 members on our Facebook group, and over 2,300 likes for our Facebook page!

As in previous years, we have continued to host local and national freethought leaders and speakers, such as Rebecca Vitsmun, Seth Andrews, Tony Ortega, and recently Dave Silverman. We came together to celebrate Darwin Day & Independence Day.

Throughout the year, we organized opportunities for our members to come together as a group and give back to the community, including:

  • Donating blood in the monthly blood drive
  • Work parties every other month to repack food at Food Lifeline for distribution to food banks, shelters, and meal programs
  • Holiday gift wrapping to benefit Seattle Children’s Hospital
  • Weekly Atheists in Sobriety meetings

In the annual Seattle Pride Parade, we expanded our new “We Believe” logo & branding, which was very well received and is the basis for our upcoming bus-ad campaign. We also had booths in the University District Street Fair, Fremont Solstice Fair, and Seattle PrideFEST, which as always was a fun way to educate and engage with believers and non-believers alike.

We continued our ongoing social events – the weekly Walk Around Green Lake every Sunday, Third Thursday meetups, Godless Game Nights and monthly Eastside Playdate meetings in Bellevue.

As the year ends, we would like to ask for your support in achieving these goals. Whether you donate $10, $100, or $1,000, every dollar of your donation will go to supporting our work and expanding our programming. With your help, we will be able to continue to support our community and do much, much more.

Finally, if you are interested in getting involved, we are looking for board members and volunteers. If this sounds interesting to you, contact us at board@seattleatheists.org.

We love having you as part of our community! Please help us grow and be better than ever.

Sincerely,

The Board of Directors of Seattle Atheists
