On Dec. 20, after a rich discussion about the future of our organization, the board unanimously adopted a vision and mission for Seattle Atheists:
Vision:
A Puget Sound that accepts atheism as a viable alternative in all areas of public and private life.
Mission:
- Grow, support, and provide community for atheists in the Puget Sound.
- Educate the public about atheism and present it as positive and legitimate.
- Provide information and encourage education in science and critical thought.
- Encourage the public to look for credible evidence rather than superstition, dogma, and the supernatural.
- Support the Constitution of the United States, defend the wall of separation between church and state, and inform the public about policy that infringes on that separation.

Hello, I listened to the KOMO radio interview of Bob Seidensticker the other day.
I know that atheists believe that there is no God, but there appears to be other facets of atheism, like critical thinking.
Question – Is there a position paper, maybe something akin to a manifesto, that defines what atheism is and its goals? I’m looking for a brief overview rather than a long treatment or book.
