On Sunday, June 24, 2012, Seattle Pride will host its 38th annual Pride Parade starting at 11:00 AM. The parade kicks off at 4th Avenue & Union streets, and will proceed north down 4th Avenue to Denny Way. It will last approximately two and a half hours and will be held rain or shine.
Join us for the FSM’s encore appearance at the Seattle PrideFest on Sunday, June 24. Let’s show our support to the GLBT community by bringing our much-loved creation to the party. As always, we need as many pirates as we can muster, so be sure to bring a friend.
Tips on costumes:
Party stores, dollar stores, and craft stores almost always have pirate-themed accessories like hats, eyepatches, or plastic hand-hooks. A pirate costume can be as simple as a pair of black slacks, a solid button-down shirt/blouse, a solid sash tied around your waist, or a bandana around your head! If you have a corset, it will go well over a billowy blouse.
Red, black, and white are prominent easy colors to work with. A striped shirt or stockings are always good. Even if you arrive in something simple as jeans and a white T-shirt, once you join the pirates you’ll fit right in!
Hope to see you there!
We’ll also be running an information booth throughout the day, so be sure to stop by and say hello. If you’d like to volunteer at the booth, we could use your help. Please contact us so we can sign you up for a shift.

I’ll be in a wheelchair, pregnant with chronic back pain so I might need a little help. But I’m IN!
Brittany, not to worry. FSM pirates are a friendly, helpful lot!
I can do early setup before 9am, then any light tasks that won’t distract me from care for two young atheists.
I’m happy to haul anything to the site that will fit within 50 cubic feet (smaller than a washing machine) in my electric car, but won’t be able to haul it off at the end of the day.
Hi Jami,
Hi Jami,
Can you put me down for walking in the parade? Does it require pirate costume, or will comfy clothing for the weather be good enough?
Will try to get there as soon as possible, so I might be able to help with setting up the float too. Please let me know.
I can be reached at 206 992 2323 (Ericka should have this number too, btw).
- Anu
PS: I’m also fond of young atheists (not just to eat for breakfast), so I can provide some entertainment and distraction for them too, as required
